How To Earn Passive Income From Home – Wealthy Affiliate Journal #7

Hello, and welcome to my 7th installment of my ongoing Wealthy Affiliate Journal. This article will continue in the same theme, and will further discuss how to earn passive income from home.

As of the date of this writing, I have reached Course 3, Lesson 7 in the Wealthy Affiliate membership, and I will be updating you about the last four lessons. I believe that I had left off discussing some of the numbers – meaning – some of the income levels that successful affiliates have achieved. In this article, we’ll be discussing some of the methods used to achieve this kind of income.

Wealthy Affiliate: Course 3, Lessons 3 – 5

In lessons three through five, the basics of affiliate marketing are discussed, and those of us going through this training learn that there are affiliate networks as well as independent affiliate programs. In fact, there is a multitude of affiliate programs available to choose from, and you can choose as many as you like as long as they all have one thing in common.

Relevance

The key to choosing a successful affiliate partnership, of course, is relevance. Whichever companies products you choose to affiliate with, they all have to make sense in your chosen niche. For instance, if your passion is all about cars, then, you would likely be researching any companies with affiliate programs that have any products or services related to cars or automobiles. If your niche is about food or recipes, then you will be searching for affiliate programs that offer kitchen items or special ingredients, etc.

Affiliate Networks

These lessons also discuss the various affiliate networks that act as a go-between for companies who may not want to run their own affiliate programs. Some of the more, well-known, networks are Commission Junction, ClickBank, and ShareASale. Once you set up accounts with any of the affiliate networks, it helps to streamline the process because they keep track of all the advertising code from the companies offering their wares, and you, as an affiliate member, will receive payments from the network as opposed to multiple checks from different companies.

Affiliate Approval Process

As mentioned in earlier articles in this ongoing series, the step by step process continues.  The tasks associated with these lessons, being reviewed in this article, include applying for various affiliate programs. Affiliate marketers have to be “approved” in order to able to promote a company’s products. The approval process is necessary for both networks as well as independent affiliate programs. These lessons were pretty simple and straightforward. Now, onto the next Lesson…

Always Be Helpful

In Lesson six, we are reminded that we are here to actually help people in our chosen niche. This is important to remember, and this is also why the underlying passion of the writer comes into play. If a writer is truly passionate about the niche, it’s a natural occurrence to try to help people rather than try to sell them something – especially if their knowledge is lacking. Passionate writers will know much about the niche, and they will also make the effort to remain informed and updated with new products, services, or anything related to their chosen niche. This is also why this lesson has us set up Google Alerts. They will help us with automatic alerts in our chosen niche.

Product Reviews

And, finally, in lesson six, we were given the task to write a review of a product that we either personally knew about, or could review a product or service based on extensive research. For me, I chose CB Passive Income. I personally know this product because I bought this product. I wrote about the pros and cons, and tried to explain why I no longer fully support CB Passive Income. Although I like the basic product, and it does have a lot of training available, it’s just not as “passive” as it claims to be.

Google Ads

In lesson seven, Google AdSense is discussed, and students are urged to apply for AdSense accounts. Some people may not like ads running on their site, but the lesson does discuss the fact that not everyone who visits your blog will like the content, or even stick around long enough to read it. So, having ads that help readers navigate away are actually helping people as well with conveniently placed ads. I will be placing up to three Google ads. Once approved, my ads are set to appear in a banner ad across the top, and two ads will be placed in the column on the right hand side of the page.

More Than Halfway Through

Now that I’ve updated you up through lesson seven, I’ll be on to the next lesson, Lesson 8! I’m more than halfway through with the Wealthy Affiliate Courses, and I can’t wait to finish up! There are so many other articles and webinars on the Wealthy Affiliate site, and there is even more training available on Word Press alone. It’s just amazing with all the information that is provided, and I want to get through as much as I can as soon as I can. The more I learn, the more I can apply!

Still Uncertain

I said I would give this a 100% effort on my part to “see” if this all works, and I wasn’t kidding. I joined Wealthy Affiliate on February 3rd, 2015. I am applying everything I already knew and what I have learned, and I look forward to my six month anniversary to see where things stand. But, as of now, I am a long way off. So, I’ll be back as soon as I complete more lessons.

In the meantime, I will continue to provide status updates on my journey with Wealthy Affiliate as well as the outcome. One thing that I am enjoying – is that I have been working from home. So, if and when I begin to earn passive income from home, you’ll be the first to know!
